{Weekly review} Week 44 report card, week 45 plans
Last week wasn’t as productive as I’d like it to have been, but that’s how practice months go. I’m still trying to get into a groove of things, while not neglecting the real people in our lives. When you add people into the productivity schedule, they always take more time than you plan for. But that’s good and how it should be. People over productivity.
Week Review
- Project last week:
Clean out the closet in the spare room.DONE! - Books I’m Reading:
We Live in Alaska–I read 19 pages (This is my read-until-I-fall-alseep nightstand book) Right now the young, newlywed couple are almost starving from lack of food and therefore have no energy, and the only thing they can do is keep canoeing down the Yukon until they find the next cabin or village. They keep trying to hunt geese, but so far have had no luck. And they are constantly wet and cold.
The End of Absence–I read 15 disturbing pages–The premise of the book is that we’ve lost absence in a world of constant connection (and it was written in 2014!) This chapter started with a couple of really sad stories of young teens who, because of cyberbullying, ended up taking their own lives.
Cranford–Didn’t get to this book this week.
GOAL: Keep reading in snatches of time I have, rather than scrolling. - School: (My friend and I are taking a free online class, Introduction to the Constitution, from Hillsdale College)
I’m ALMOST finished with Lesson 3. I still have 2 pages of an essay by James Otis to read: Rights of the British Colonies Asserted and Proved. One thing I have noticed is that when I’m taking an online class with no real due dates, it easily gets pushed to the back burner. But if this was an in-person class, or even an online class with a grade and due dates, I’d MAKE the time and get the assignments in on time. I need to make more of an effort here this week.
GOAL: Finish Lesson 3 and 4 before next Monday’s weekly review post. - Memory: (Currently working on Exodus 34:7.) Goal: 5x a week.
Result: 3/5 -I think I almost have it down! - Exercise: (Goal: strength 3x a week, & cardio at least 2x)
Result: Strength: 2/3 Cardio: 2/2 - Evening routine: (Goal: 7 times/7 days a week):
Result: 2/7 -I spent some time re-thinking when I do this and this week I have a reminder set on my phone to start on it right after dinner cleanup. Hoping that helps, because this really does set me up for a successful day the next day. - Zone cleaning: Last week was the Kitchen zone. (Goal: Get at least 5 tasks done):
Result: 4/5:
I cleaned the toaster and the toaster shelf
Wiped out, culled, and organized 7 of 9 drawers
Culled, cleaned and organized the freezer
Wiped down the walls and switches.
Projects from last week:
Get at least one garden bed cleaned up so I can plant garlic.DONE- See if we have any leftover bathroom paint to touch up a wall. not done, didn’t even look
- Start Christmas shopping. thought about it, but didn’t do any
Clean 5 of the areas in Zone 2 (the kitchen).I did 4 of the 5, so I’m gonna count this as a success
Projects for this week:
- Actually look for that bathroom touch-up paint
- Instead of starting Christmas shopping, get organized about it. Pull out my Holiday Planner and start filling it out.
- Clean 5 of the areas in Zone 3 (bathrooms and laundry room)
- Get that bed of garlic planted! (I’m already about a month behind for this!)

what about defining your top 3 priorities for the week? sure, other tasks you want to work on, also. but when you know your top things, and you can make sure those get done, there is something so nice about that. anyhoo, just a thought!
Ya, I guess I haven’t really done that. Okay, so if I get these top three tasks done this week, it’ll be a successful week:
1. Plant the garlic
2. Touch up the bathroom wall behind the toilet (If I don’t find the bathroom color, just repainting that tiny wall behind the toilet white will be fine.)
3. Finish lessons 3 and 4 in the Constitution class.
Thanks!
I so appreciate seeing both what you aimed to do and also what you actually did. It helps to see both! And aiming for 5 things from the zone list is something I’m going to consider. I can never get the whole list done and get overwhelmed just looking at it, but five things this time, five things next time? That might work. I started watching those Hillsdale videos forever ago. You inspire me to get back to that.
