{Weekly review} Week 47 reflections, week 48 plans
Last week wasn’t amazing as far as productivity. I’m glad this is still practice time! I’m learning more realistic schedules and how bad I am at procrastinating. Ugh!
Week Review
- Project last week: Thanksgiving Plan —-> DONE! Got the plans for the meal all worked out. Now to plan an activity or movie or games. (Do any of you have suggestions? What do you do after the meal is done?)
- Books I’m Reading:
I did much better at staying off my phone in the evenings. I’ll continue that!
We Live in Alaska–Read a bit, but not a chapter’s worth.
The End of Absence–nothing.
Cranford–Also nothing.
BUT, I got a new book that I’m devouring right now:
Storyworthy by Matthew Dicks–I figure if I’m going to be back at blogging, and want to be good at sharing truth with others at the Farmstand, neighbors, grandkids, etc., I should get better at story telling. (This book was briefly mentioned in a podcast, I think it was one by Memoria Press, but I’m not 100% sure. It didn’t leave my mind after a few days, so I looked into it. I’m currently loving it and am already implementing some things. WARNING: It is not a Christian book. It doesn’t glorify immorality or sin, but it does mention those things that the author participated in.)
GOAL: I’m going to focus on actually completing my D.E.A.R (Drop Everything And Read) time this week, where I stop whatever it is I’m doing and go read for a half hour. Currently it works well for me to do it at 3pm, so I’m going to set an alarm at 2:50 to do that. - School: (My friend and I are taking Introduction to the Constitution, from Hillsdale College)
LAST WEEK’S GOAL: Finish lesson 4 before next Monday’s weekly review post. –>I did not, but made progress. While it was not ideal, I’m almost done with the reading, and I had a couple good discussions with Corey about what I was reading. That was fun!
THIS WEEK’S GOAL: Finish Lesson 4. - Memory: (Currently working on Exodus 34:7.) Goal: 5x a week.
Result: 0/5 –well, that stinks. Need to be sure to check off these habits each day. - Exercise: (Goal: strength 3x a week, & cardio at least 2x)
Result: Strength: 0/3 Cardio: 0/2
This week I just stunk at all my habits. Why? I think it’s because I procrastinate on things or put them off entirely in the later part of the day, so I do them the next morning, which throws off my morning routine. My morning routine is where I get all these good things done. If that’s spent on other things, the good habits don’t get done, even if I have the best of intentions to do them later. - Evening routine: (Goal: 7 times/7 days a week):
Result: 0/7 -Ya, see, not getting this done makes morning the time I try to catch up, and then the good morning habits I’m trying to develop get pushed aside. A good tomorrow starts the night before. - Zone cleaning: Last week was the bedroom and office zone. (Goal: Get at least 5 tasks done):
Result: 4/5 (see below)
Projects & tasks from last week:
- Repaint wall behind toilet. (nope, didn’t even wipe the wall down)
- DONE!
Plan out Thanksgiving dinner (and what can be prepped ahead) - Finish five zone cleaning tasks (office and bedroom)
- DONE!
Cull and organize desk (inbox file, pens/post it/paperclip holder, clean catch-all cart) - DONE!
Wash sliding glass door - Wash bedroom window
- DONE!
Detail vacuum in closet & under bed - DONE!
Clear off andmove out extra bookshelf (still need the guys to move it out)
- DONE!
- Finish Lesson 4 in online class. (nope, but closer)
Projects & tasks for this week:
- PROJECT: (a project has more than one step) Repaint wall behind toilet.
(It would be so great to have this done before Thanksgiving!)
I have to: 1. wash the wall. 2. tape the wall 3. get out the roller and paint pans. 4. Paint the wall. - Complete my daily Thanksgiving tasks to avoid working all Thanksgiving Day!
- Finish four zone cleaning tasks (Living room and Dining room)
- Clean dining room window inside and out
- Clean the carpet
- Detail clean the dining room table and chairs
- Wash dining room walls and light switch

Everdell is a great game. Maybe try that after thanksgiving or nertz. (However you spell it.) Maybe a nice walk around the neighborhood with your grandkids! (If it’s not raining) possibly a nice hot beverage and a movie. Just some ideas!!
Those actually sound very nice! I guess since it would be after Thanksgiving a Christmas movie might be acceptable too!
Charlie Brown’s Thanksgiving is a nice low-key movie later on Thanksgiving Day.
Be of good courage.
We do love that show! I’ll be sure to make that happen!
yes, Charlie Brown thanksgiving!
our big meal is in process. set up dressing, made two pies and cinnamon rolls for breakfast. and I’ve got my list for tomorrow.
I wonder if I commit to posting each week, if that will help motivate me on good habits, or if I’ll just procrastinate on posting. hmm….
