Susan Allibone Memoir
A Life Hid with Christ in God
Alfred Lee’s 1856 memoir of Susan Allibone had been lost to all but a few antique bookstores. This once wildly popular book shared the inspiring life of a faithful Christian woman from Pennsylvania, who exemplified what it was to rejoice in her sufferings. Even though the last decades of her life were marked by severe illness that eventually left her unable to walk or even to leave her room, she remained steadfast in her faith in Christ never once despairing.
“I am taking great delight in reading the memoir of Miss Allibone. How I wish I had a friend of so heavenly a temper.“
-Elizabeth Prentiss in 1856, author of Stepping Heavenward

What you’ll find in the new edition:
- It has been lightly edited to update the language to make it easier to read.
- Annotations were added to add context, history and information to help the modern reader step into Susan’s world.
- Definitions were added for archaic words, and the text was lightly edited to make it read more smoothly.
- The interior was completely reformatted with wide margins (plenty of space to add notes) and a beautiful layout.
