{Saturday with Susan} Sharing Christ
Today’s post from A Life Hid with Christ in God is an excerpt from a letter written by Susan to her friend in July, 1841. They were discussing how hard it is, yet how eternally important it is to share the gospel with others.
“Why are our earnest prayers not more earnest, our most faithful efforts more faithful? I have often prayed that God would make me really feel that those who do not know Him are going down to eternal ruin, and to help me act accordingly. You speak of your responsibilities, and I do not wonder that your insufficiency is ever before you; for as you remark, the eternal destiny of many will be influenced by your actions. But it is well that you should always feel that the work before you requires the aid of the Most High, for were your own strength, your own influence in any degree what you depend on, your failure would be most certain. Your Heavenly Father would have you to come to Him for help, that you may give to Him alone the glory of success.
‘Tis He that works to will,
‘Tis He that works to do;
His is the power by which we act,
His be the glory too.’
“If in the strength of the Lord you labor on, you will be, I do not doubt, the means of the conversion of many souls, and will cause those who fear Him to be glad when they see you. May you ever, with deep humility, burning zeal and an abundant measure of spiritual joy, ‘press towards the mark.'”page 330
